Replicated content & no content | AdSense Program Policies

SPEAKER 1: Hi, everyone. My name is Chris. And I am part of our external outreach efforts representing the Trust and Safety Team.

My role is to help you, our publishers, better understand our policies and publisher restrictions. And more importantly, I also work with our internal teams to help them better understand the challenges that you face. Today, I'd like to talk about Google Publisher Policy on replicated content and ads on pages with no content.

So what is replicated content? We consider this to be content that's been taken from other websites and publishing it on your own website without attribution or permission. Publishers who publish articles or content from other websites and publish them as their own are in violation of this policy.

So why do we have publisher policy in place? Your content is the reason users are visiting your site or app. Visitors are using your site for a reason, whether they're looking for business advice or finding the latest information on a particular topic. By providing users the information they're looking for, you're satisfying their needs in the moment that they need it the most. Delivering this content is so vital to building a strong and loyal user base. When users enjoy your content, they continue to visit your site.

They can share their positive experience with others, which helps your site grow. Keep in mind, our goal is to help facilitate a healthy digital advertising ecosystem. We understand that users come to publisher sites to view interesting, valuable, and unique content. Sites without original content or sites that have no content are not useful to users.

And advertisers don't want their ads on these pages either. These web pages ultimately pose a threat to the trust users and advertisers have in our industry. We understand that some publishers take content from other more well-known sites on the assumption that increasing the volume of pages on their site is a good long-term strategy, regardless of the relevance or uniqueness of that content. Purely scraped content, even from high-quality sources, does not provide any added value to your users and may constitute copyright infringements in some cases. There are no shortcuts to success.

Take the time to create original content to set your site apart and provide real value to your users. This will keep your visitors coming back and provide more useful results for users searching on Google. If we determine that publishers have pages of replicated content, we can impose restrictions on the ability of the publisher to receive certain sources of advertising.

If your content is labeled with a Google Publisher Policy Violation, Google may block ads from appearing against your content, or suspend or terminate your account. Therefore, it's important that publishers follow our posted help center policies, restrictions, and best practices. All of our policies and publisher restrictions are designed and enforced to build trust in the digital advertising ecosystem.

The future of Google and our partners are linked, and we believe in fostering an environment where users, advertisers, and publishers can all thrive in a healthy digital advertising ecosystem. And by valuing each party, we help ensure the sustainability of our industry.

We hope this video has helped you better understand our Replicated Content and No Content Publisher Policy. You can find more videos explaining our policies and publisher restrictions within the playlist on our channel. Thank you.

Encouraging accidental clicks | AdSense Program Policies Google AdSense

Hi, everyone. My name is John, and I lead our external outreach efforts, representing the Trust and Safety Team. My role is to help you, our publishers, better understand our policies and publisher restrictions.    And, importantly, I also work with our internal teams to help them better understand the challenges you face. Today, I'd like to talk about our publisher policy around implementations that encourage clicks. First off, why do we care about this? We're always working to facilitate a healthy digital advertising ecosystem.    Importantly, this means we create policies and publisher restrictions to help ensure that our users, advertisers and publishers are protected and can trust in that ecosystem. This works best when users click on ads from genuine interest on sites with valuable content. When publishers encourage users to click on ads in hopes of making money, the users' clicks are not out of genuine interest in the ads.  If we allow ...
